About Stacey Harris

Committed to Community, Dedicated to Progress

Stacey Harris was elected to Dunwoody City Council in 2019. Driven by a strong desire to contribute to her local community, Stacey has been highly active in Dunwoody city government and many key civic organizations in the Dunwoody community for more than 19 years.

During the past 4 years, some of the highlights of Stacey’s work on council include: negotiated final details of the Dunwoody Village Plan, served on the Budget Committee and facilitated usage agreement for Peachtree Girls Softball team at Brook Run.

Stacey is the director of the gymnastics program at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. Both living and working in Dunwoody provide Stacey with valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities ahead for our community.

Stacey earned a bachelor’s degree in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College. She was awarded a Watson Fellowship and spent a year living in Moscow, Russia. Following her fellowship, Stacey worked for the 1994 Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia. After returning to the United States, Stacey moved to Atlanta and worked for the 1996 Olympics.

A past president of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, Stacey understands the need to protect Dunwoody’s residential quality of life, while still attracting quality businesses. Stacey’s many roles within city government and civic organizations have given her unique insights into how, with proper planning, the reality of a high-quality residential life and a city attractive to businesses are both attainable.

Stacey served on the board of the Dunwoody Nature Center and has been involved with the Dunwoody Community Garden and The Kingswood School Board. She helped create Walk to School Day in Dunwoody and has served on the 4th of July Parade Committee. Throughout her many years of volunteer involvement, Stacey has helped to foster friendly, inclusive programs that promote a better quality of life in Dunwoody.

Stacey and her husband, Jack, have been married for 25 years (or will be on October 24). They have raised their two children and dog in Dunwoody.
